The book, titled The Fight for Truth: The Inside Story Behind the Breonna Taylor Tragedy, and written by Sergeant Jonathan Mattingly, will still be published by independent publisher Post Hill Press.

Simon & Schuster have announced that it will not distribute a book written by one of the cop’s involved in Breonna Taylor‘s death. The publishing company made the announcement April 15 after news of the book faced backlash on social media. The book, titled The Fight for Truth: The Inside Story Behind the Breonna Taylor Tragedy, and written by Sergeant Jonathan Mattingly, will still be published by independent publisher Post Hill Press, however.

“Like much of the American public, earlier today Simon & Schuster learned of plans by distribution client Post Hill Press to publish a book by Jonathan Mattingly. We have subsequently decided not to be involved in the distribution of this book,” Simon & Schuster said in a statement via Twitter.

Post Hill Press is a client of Simon & Schuster’s. The publishing company didn’t comment on whether it would cut ties with the independent Post Hill following the backlash against The Fight for Truth.

Mattingly was one of the officers involved in Taylor’s death. Alongside Detective Myles Cosgrove and ex-officer Brett Hankison, Maatingly used a battering ram to force open the door to Taylor’s apartment. Upon enterting the 26-year-old’s apartment, Mattingly told investigators that he was shot in the leg, the bulllet being fired by Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker III. He and the two other officers then returned fire.

Hankison was the only officer to be charged. He was indicted on three counts of wanton endangerment in the first degree in connection with Taylor’s death, but he was not charged with causing her death.
